I'm a certified nursing assistant and untl very recently, worked in a nursing home. I have just taken on a private case. I take care of a 38 year old woman who is quadrupalegic and quite possibly the bravest person I've ever met, she's also becomming a good friend. my job is hardwork, and not the highest paying, but I get rewards that go beyond a paycheck I'm considering going back to school again to get my L.P.N. liscence but for now, this is where I'm at.

I'm a humble media technologist/aspiring
documentarian, but currently specialising
in producing/editing/post-producing/Final Cut
Pro-ing, blabla, music-centric DVDs. I
don't actually graduate my media tech degree
until next year - but then again, I only enrolled
in the first place just so I could use equipment I
couldn't afford by myself - those sweaty
lecturers can't teach me anything, of course.

Post-graduation I'm staying in my current city
for a year, making money doing exciting things
things in media production studios, after that
am off to a different campus to read a PhD in Media
and Humanities: and then it'll be Dr. D. to you.

Actually, the more I think about the prospect
of spending another three years scribbling about
the ontological aspects of documentary as opposed
to travelling around the place, in the sunshine,
making them, the more preposterous is sounds.

Currently, uninspired writer. Would like to get back into some sort of arts, whether theatre or music, possibly both. I'm sort of a one track person, so I'd devote my time to anything I do. That is also why my personal and professional life always seem to be congruent.

I'm also thinking about CLEP, college credit for your life experiences. I would go nuts in a classroom, as I would probably piss off the prof with questions, rather than being a good little drone like they want.

Doctor D., what a horrifying thought !!

My bon mot, well, running gag, goes something like
this:

I - Yeh, I can see it now.. I'll be on a ship some-
where; somebody will collapse, they'll call for
a doctor, I'll burst through (flashing my Press
card - LOL!) shouting 'I'm a doctor', and..

- Oh good. Doctor of what?
- Eh, media.
- What does that mean?
- I don't know.

Sounds to me as though you need to go on a European tour making documentaries. Maybe a Cannes-worthy production will emerge.

The Rich Rags one - the one I've been up until
bloody 5 this morning, fiddling about with - has
got festival potential. Probably not Sundance
or Cannes or anything fancy like that, but maybe
The London Times one. But LT are quite strange.
They're not unlike the Turner Prize judges,
i.e. completely unpredicatable.

In my favour, Barry Hampe, who's written one (of
the many) 'bibles' on documentary making, has
agreed to be the primary secondary source for my
dissertation, which was kind of him.

I'm a screenwriter, currently working on screenplay #7, hoping to get one sold one day. lol We'll see. It's always the next request to read your work, based upon the treatment, that breaks you in this industry. Got one out in Newport Beach (co-written with our prodigal Hawkey) currently. We'll see how that goes. Have about three or four ideas for new scripts after my current work is done (some are starting to gel, some merely in their infancy). Outside of that, still looking for gainful employment here. Working pizzas to pay the bills (keep your comments to yourselves) until my happy days come. Hey, I hate waiting, but I'm patient.
